Frank Alston is an artist and educator, with practices based in community and exploration.

In art and in education, Frank uses pieces of their own lived experiences and perspective to reach a public audience and give seeds of ideas for growth, health, and good condition. Their work is created and shared with the intent to create community, inspire relationships, and give strength to action.

Originally from Maryland, they now live in Philadelphia, and are never without thought as to their familial roots in North Carolina. As their work is an investigative practice of self, Frank Alston asks:

“How do we create community? How do I share my story? How do I create community? How do I inspire others to be empowered to do the same?”

“These are the questions that drive me and my work. Nourishment and growth, at all levels. Always questioning the nuance of identity and relationships, my art attempts to document these thoughts or inspire interaction- inspire action. In all of my work, intention is given to spatial environments and cultural histories.”
